What if I’m new to Dungeons & Dragons?
Hiring an experienced Dungeon Master allows you to learn the game comfortably without having to know all the rules in advance and prep an entire game. We provide everything you need for the adventure, you just bring your friends to learn and have fun. All new players get their own set of dice to keep!
One-Shot Adventure or Ongoing Campaign?
A one-shot adventure is a 4 to 5 hour game session encapsulating a single story. If you’re new to D&D or want a fun event for your family, friends, or colleagues, running a one-shot is perfect. If you’re looking to arrange an ongoing campaign, we’re happy to do that as well. It takes more prep work and a commitment for a large number of sessions, but it can be very rewarding.
Published or Custom Modules?
I encourage you to choose from any of the adventures I offer, as I’ve specifically balanced those for one-shot play. You can also choose a published module for me to run, or I can work with you to create something custom. The issue with published modules is that they tend to run very long. Aside from the printed books available at any game store, there are many official adventures published online to choose from. All I need to know is what style of game you’re looking to play in.
What kind of gameplay materials do you provide?
I provide everything you need aside from the table to play on. For the most part, I use a dry-erase battle map, but I also use some Dwarven Forge pieces if the situation calls for them. I really enjoy the look and feel of those at the table. And I always use sound effects and a soundtrack during battles.
Where do you operate?
I’m available to run D&D games in Las Vegas and Henderson, but I’m willing to travel for special requests (travel expenses are additional and worked out at time of booking). I can run a game at your space, or we can reserve a gaming table at a private venue, like a gaming store. And yes, I come direct to hotels, provided you have ample space to play, including a large table to accomodate a game.
Do you teach Dungeon Mastering?
Yes, I do. I very much enjoy helping new Dungeon Masters! The ratio of players to DMs is far too high, and even more so for good DMs. Contact me about one-on-one sessions and we’ll work something out.
Do you do special events?
Absolutely, and often! Birthday parties, Corporate events, Bachelor or Bachelorette parties, Divorce parties, Funerals, or just a fun Vegas weekend – any time is a good time to throw some dice. Don’t waste your money on an overpriced Vegas experience with a bunch of strangers that you might not enjoy. Instead, book a 4 to 5 hour personal D&D experience your friends will never forget!
What age is appropriate for D&D?
Tabletop RPGs require logic, math and communication skills. As long as a player is able to handle those basics, or are proficient at video games that require some reading (Pokemon, RPG’s, etc) then they can sit at the table.
Dungeons and Dragons demands that players have strong communication skills, as well as math and logic. While the DMs Guide says 12 is the ideal age to start, not all 12 year-olds have the patience or attention to sit at the gaming table. For my paid D&D games, I set a lower age limit of 16.
Do you run games online?
No, I don’t. For me, there’s no substitute for the live experience. I also don’t livestream my games (though you’re welcome to livestream any game you’re paying for). I don’t even watch any. It’s too much like watching sports; I’d rather be playing. If you’re looking for an online game, I recommend starplaying.games.
Do you do Adventurer’s League?
No, that’s not my thing. For that, visit your local game store and they can point you in the right direction.
What makes you qualified to do this?
I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’m confident that I bring a solid game to the table. It also helps to have played in a lot of games I didn’t like so I know what works and what doesn’t. I also excel in coming up with story on the fly and weaving it into the game seamlessly, which is a crucial skill for DMs.
Do you dress up in costume?
No, that’s creepy. I can put on a suit and tie if you need me to for a game hosted in a corporate space, but I’m not wearing a cloak and holding a staff like a weirdo. At least, not without a considerable additional fee.
Do you charge for traveling?
However, if I have to travel more than 30 minutes to get to your location, yes, I charge a reasonable travel free. Fortunately, the greater Las Vegas area is such that I can get to most locations within 30 minutes.
